Vale: Lyndon Shea (1948 - 2012)
Lyndon Stuart Shea entered Prep I at Hutchins in 1955; in his final year, 1966, he was School Captain and a leader in many fields.

A keen athlete who consistently won places in both intra and inter-school athletics competitions from the age of nine years onwards, he later became a member of both the rugby and cross country teams. He was also a sensitive poet and actor, appearing regularly in school drama productions and from 1963-66 having many of his poems published in the School magazine. A gifted speaker and debater, Lyndon won several awards for Oratory and in his senior year was elected President of the Literary and Debating Society, as well as House Captain, Captain of Debating and Captain of Music for School House.

His unstinting service to the School extended to both the Magazine and Library Committees and by 1966 he had started up an Inter-School 6th Form Group and held the post of Inter-School President of the United Nations Association. By this time he was known widely as ‘The General’. A keen Hutchins Cadet who was named Best Cadet and became Adjutant for the Combined Cadet Corps in his final year, he was awarded a prestigious Army Cadetship to attend Duntroon Military College.

After surviving a potentially fatal illness at the age of 21 years, Lyndon recently passed away on his birthday, 2 July 2012.
